Škoda is preparing to launch its new flagship electric vehicle, the Peaq, which is expected to become the most expensive model in the automaker’s history. The seven-seat SUV is scheduled to debut this summer and will feature a design that marks a significant departure from the brand’s current lineup.

According to official statements from Škoda, the Peaq has been developed as the brand’s new top-tier offering, positioned above the Enyaq iV. The vehicle’s size, seating capacity, and advanced technology are the primary factors driving its anticipated premium pricing.

The Peaq’s exterior styling incorporates sharper lines and a more angular front fascia compared to Škoda’s existing EVs. The automaker has confirmed that the design language is intended to signal a new era for the brand, moving toward a more aerodynamic and futuristic aesthetic while retaining practical elements such as a spacious interior and flexible seating configuration.

Pricing and Market Positioning

Industry analysts estimate that the Peaq could carry a starting price exceeding 60,000 euros in European markets, making it more expensive than any Škoda model currently on sale. The high price reflects the cost of developing a large, long-range electric platform capable of accommodating seven passengers with luggage.

Škoda has not released official pricing figures, but the company has indicated that the Peaq will compete directly with established seven-seat electric SUVs from competitors such as the Tesla Model X, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, and the upcoming Volkswagen ID. The premium positioning aligns with Škoda’s strategy to move its brand image upward without alienating its core customer base. Technical Specifications and Range

This platform supports battery capacities up to 120 kilowatt-hours and can deliver a range exceeding 600 kilometers on the WLTP cycle, depending on the configuration.

Two powertrain options are expected: a rear-wheel drive version with a single motor and an all-wheel drive variant with dual motors. The dual-motor configuration is likely to offer rapid acceleration and improved handling in adverse weather conditions.

Škoda has also confirmed that the Peaq will support fast charging at up to 270 kilowatts, enabling a 10 to 80 percent charge in approximately 25 minutes. This specification positions the vehicle as competitive with the fastest-charging EVs currently available.

The interior features a third row of seats that can be folded flat to create a large cargo area. Škoda has emphasized that the third row is designed to accommodate adults, not just children, which is a distinguishing factor from many seven-seat EVs on the market.

Production and Timeline

Production of the Peaq will take place at Škoda’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. The company has invested approximately 1.2 billion euros to retool the factory for electric vehicle assembly. Initial production capacity is expected to be around 100,000 units per year, though this figure may be adjusted based on demand.

Škoda plans to unveil the production version of the Peaq at a dedicated event in late June. First deliveries to European customers are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year. The automaker has not yet announced specific availability for markets outside Europe, including North America and Asia.

The Peaq will initially be offered in select European countries, with a phased rollout to other regions depending on regulatory approvals and infrastructure development. Škoda has confirmed that the vehicle will be eligible for electric vehicle incentives in most European markets.

Looking ahead, Škoda is expected to introduce a more affordable version of the Peaq within 18 months, likely with a smaller battery and reduced equipment levels. That variant would aim to broaden the vehicle’s appeal while maintaining the premium identity established by the flagship launch.
